Creating My Digipak Front Cover

Firstly, to create our digipak front cover we used the green screen to take suitable pictures for our cover. We took multiple pictures so we had a variety to chose from. We gained inspiration for the style of our digital cover from female DJ 'Sam Divine'. We noticed she used a lot of head shots for the covers of her digipaks and felt this worked well with our genre.

In order to edit our front cover images, we used Photoshop. Using photoshop we erased the green screen and added the red gradient background. We also brightened our artist eyes as well as emphasising the green colour of the pupils. Additionally, we used cloning to remove hair and to smooth the edges. From research into other digipaks, we realised that these were the most common edits used in the industry so in order to stick to the professional look we followed these conventions.

Front Cover

These are the selection of images which were taken in front of the green screen to use for our digipak front cover. After analysing each image, we decided to use the top left image for our digipak front cover. We felt that the eye contact with the camera and the full face gave a good reflection on our artist and also allowed our audience to get personal with the artist.

Initially, we planned to use the black and white marble effect background. However, after much consideration we felt that this background didn't correctly fit our artist and song genre so we then went onto finding an alternative background which we felt would fit more suitably. On photoshop we found the font 'Hotel De Paris' which is used in the above image, we felt this fitted our artist the best as it gave a 'Lana Del Rae' kind of look which we thought felt nicely with our front cover.

Above is our final draft for our digipak front cover. We used the red gradient background as we felt this was more modern and technical in comparison to our first drafts marble background. We also decided that the artist's name at the top of the digipak cover was more effective as it represented more space overall and allowed the audience to focus on the artist and stand out more.
