Ed Sheeran - Plus - DigiPak Advert Analysis
This particular
digipak of Ed Sheeran stands out because of it's engaging colour scheme of
bright orange which is immediately related to Ed Sheerans' product as it
successfully fits in with the brand identity that he has established since
arriving on the music scene in 2010. The colour orange effectively connotes
happiness and positivity, however it's use here is interesting because when
paired with an image of Ed Sheeran, the colour almost instantly makes the
digipak have an air of mystery about it.
The digipak follows
the key codes and conventions to that of a digipak advert. The inclusion of the
artist name, release date and name of the album provides fans with all the
information they need ahead of the digipak's release. What is most interesting
is the brand identity created. We see the same typography used here as to what
was used in previous albums released by Ed. This ensures that he is an artist
who enjoys having a familiar feel to his work. Moreover, it hints at the idea
that pop music is something that often has reoccurring themes - much like the
ones shown here.
