Choosing Our Artist

The artist name we have chosen is 'Nina Rae'. We chose this name as we believed it was unique and catchy for our audience. We also decided that it wasn't too cliche and average, it was an opportunity for our artist to be remembered and recognized easily and it fitted correctly with the pop/house genre we chose. The name wasn't too elegant and innocent which would've been more appropriate for a romantic love song rather than a house tune. We thought that 'Nina Rae' had an edgy, powerful tone to it making it the ideal name for our desired artist. 

During the planning of creating our artist name we had many other ideas. We researched names of DJ who filed into the same genre of house/techno which is the type of artist we wanted to portray. We gained inspiration from current DJ's such as Tina Kraviz, Hannah Wants, Annie Mac and tINI and the gang. 

All of these artists portray the same image which we want to create for our artist which is where we gained our initial inspiration from. From this research, we created a list of potential names for our artist:

- Ariel Rae
- Mya May
- Tini Rae
- Nina Rae
- Tini Tayla
- Tini Joy
- Tini Kay/Jay
- Nina and the gang

After much negotiating and weighing up the pro's and con's of all our ideas, we decided on the name 'Nina Rae'. This name stuck out to the others as it still gave the idea of realism and normality within the artist making her still seem humane rather than too abstract. We wanted to avoid using inspiration from artist like 'Avicii' as Jody and I discussed how it seemed alienated and bizarre to us. We want our artist to be natural and real yet edgy.
